This is the place Albert Einstein was born here in March 1879.!
Ulm Cathedral is a Lutheran church. There laid the cornerstone in 1377, and in 1890(after 513 years later) Ulm’s Gothic cathedral was completed. The single spire is the world’s tallest church with a steeple (529.6 feet high) each of the 768 steps to the top. The final stairwell to the top (known as the 3rd Gallery) is a tall, spiraling staircase that has barely enough room for one person
The last hundred or so steps, are a narrow circular staircase enclosed in the lacy Gothic tower almost wasn’t breathing at all.
Some explained that these 768 steps are the most available for the public to climb (up), anywhere in the world. That “honor” belonged to the Washington Monument (555 feet, 5 1/8 inches high, Google.com says 893, or 896, or 897, or 898 steps) in Washington, DC, until a rule change a few years ago. The last we heard, the elevator is required for the ride up the Washington Monument, but there is a choice between the elevator or the stairs to get down.
Ulm Cathedral (German: Ulmer Münster) is located in Ulm,Germany, the church is NOT A CETHERAL in the technical ecclesiastical sense, as it has never been the seat of a bishop(The responsible bishop of the EVANGELICAL CHUCH IN GERMMANY resides in STUTTGART, nevertheless it is famous for its Gothic ecclesiastical architecture ,therefore that is called CATHEDRAL. At the 143m there is a panoramic view of Ulm in Baden-Wurtemberg and Neu-Ulm in Bavaria and, in clear weather, a vista of the. Alps from Santis to the Zugspitze.
